The GGAC STEM Committee has put together several Scout STEM Kits that leaders can check out from the GGAC STEM Committee for two weeks at a time. There is a nominal fee or deposit for these kits, so we can keep them replenished. We also welcome input into new Scout STEM Kits ideas that we can put together. If your Unit/District/Council would like to know more and build their own set of Scout STEM Kits, please contact the STEM Committee at [email protected].
Explore the basic principles of engineering as you seek to build a tower.
While Scouts can't Bungee Jump off of the Golden Gate Bridge or the Eiffel Tower, they can model what it would take to do it. (Scouts BSA Math Supernova Activity)
See what it takes to clean up after an oil spill and learn how the natural world is impacted by these events. (Cub Scouts Science Everywhere Nova Award) This kit is suitable for a Cub Scout or Webelos Den. This kit is also suitable for Scouts BSA Environmental Science MB (Oil Spill Experiment). This kit is less extensive than the Large Event Kit.
This kit is nearly identical to the smaller Oil Spill Clean-Up Kit, but has supplies for a Pack (roughly 50 Cub Scouts and Webelos). This kit is also suitable for Scouts BSA Environmental Science MB (Oil Spill Experiment)
Harness the forces of gravity to make death defying loop-d-loops and jumps as you construct a marble run out of simple household materials. (Scouts BSA Shoot! Nova Award)
This kit supplies all the materials necessary for Cub Scouts or Webelos Den to build and experiment with catapults. Using a Team approach, the kit can be used for a Pack meeting, too. (Cub Scout Swing! Nova Award)
